We are back from summer vacation all tanned and rested. We rented a houseboat on Lake Eufala and had a blast. Jackson swam until his toes wrinkled and mom and dad relaxed in the HEAT!!! It was HOT, 105 on three days. The good news - the AC on the house boat worked excellent. We wakeboarded in the mornings until lunch and spent the afternoon in the AC. Well, Mom and Jackson did. Tony took the opportunity to get some real fishing in without me and the baby in the boat. We are not very good fishing partners. The air conditioning worked so well, I was wishing I had my goose down comforter. We had to turn it off sometimes becuase it got so cold- especially at night

Jackson, who is in the beginning stages of crawling, immediately worked is way under this chair. I can see Forts are going to be in my future. Involving every blanket and chair in the house. Which, I guess is my due, since I used to do that to my mom. I only had to be told once not to thumb tack sheets to the wood paneling.

Kitchen and hallway on the boat. It had two bedrooms, two baths, two bunk beds and a sleeper sofa. Tony's dad and stepmom, sister and brother in law were going to join us, but somethings came up with Tony's mom and they couldn't make it. She is ok, but is going to have to have open heart surgery in a month. Please keep her in your prayers.

Tony and Jackson at the helm. We couldn't anchor in the middle of the lake, which was our plan, they wouldn't let us, so we found a really cool secluded cove and stayed there Sun thru Sat. Friday, we had some folks show up who wanted to share our beach. 600 miles of shoreline on this lake and they pitched their tent within 3 yards of our boat. Hope they didn't mind the sound of the generator. We went back to the marina Saturday afternoon as check out time was 9:00 am this morning (Sunday)
Houseboat and our wakeboard boat parked at our cove beach.

Jackson swimming, or actually floating. Don't worry, I am right there, I actually cropped myself out of the picture.

Jackson in the wakeboard boat. Can you believe he is smiling in that life vest. Usually all smiles unless he gets hot. In fact, about 10 minutes in that boat and he is asleep.

Jackson has also discovered other peoples food and drinks and will smack his lips at you if you eat around you.

In addition to learning to crawl, Jackson has also taken up Yoga. Here he is doing a downward dog.

Almost perfect form of the child's pose.

OH, and he also learned how to hold his on bottle. Yeah!!!!

Sunsets were spectacular

Mom sitting in the captain's chair.

Mom and Jackson on the top deck. Saturday was the only day we could really enjoy it as it was overcast. (I was in desparate need of sunglasses at this point, which were in the other boat being pulled behind the house boat. I had to go down the slide to get them) The rest of the time, it was too stinkin hot to be up there. Which reminds me, on Sunday, when we got there, we stayed up to watch the meteor shower. The first one we saw was so close, we were expecting to hear a giant kerplunk. About 11:00 pm., I had to go to bed, but we got back up at 3:00 am to see if there were more. More in quantity, but none as spectacular as that first one we saw earlier in the evening.

Jackson alseep on the top deck with his makeshift shade chair. Tony used the slide at least once daily.

Tony getting the cat fish off his hook he caught from the top deck. He caught all kinds of fish, I caught nothing. No stickin fish in that lake.

All in all, we had a great trip and will definately do it again. Missed the family that couln't make it, it wasn't the same without them.

Hope all is well. And you still enjoy the blog. Nana P has requested a video of Jackson crawling so I will work on capturing that.

  1. What a wonderful getaway!!!! My personal favorites: Jackson holding his own bottle (hooray! This is most convenient and nice!), Jackson floating in the water, Jackson doing Yoga. I love them all! Dumb question, but you really had to know it was coming, especially from me- Is it hard to drive a house boat?!

  2. I don't know, I didn't drive. Tony said it was ok except it didn't turn well. If the wind is blowing more than 17 mph, they won't let you leave the marina and recommend you either stay where you are or beach it quickly. It turns into a sail boat.
Hope all is well, miss you
