Jackson's First Circus
Yes, folks the Circus has come to town. It was a small circus that showed up in the Irving Mall parking lot, but we had a blast. The staff was incredible, especially since our family was one of the few who could speak english, but they were patient and kind to all. The animals appeared to be happy and well cared for which is a BIG deal for me. So without further adu... (how do you spell that?)
And a little something to tiggle your funny bone. Saturday, we braved the winds for an short outing on the river. The plan was for Tony to drop me, Jackson and the dogs at the beach so who ever wanted to could dig in the dirts and then he was going to go fishing.
The sun was out, it was quasi warm, but its spring time in TX and the wind was howling. Fortunately, the sand was wet, so we didnt get sand blasted the entire time.
Stella, ran full speed ahead and found every cockle burr she could in that small area. She didn't seem to mind and had a smile on her face so maybe that is a sign of a great day - "get really dirty, get crap stuck in my hair, bounce around with little thought in my head, muttering, which way did it go, which way did it go- WWWWOOOOHOOOOO". Wonder if she was still thinking woooohooo as she had to sit still for an hour and half getting all that out of her hair. - Anyway back to the story.
Upon our arrival, you have to go on a short excursion to see what treasures you may find on the beach. I was walking along, hands clasped behind my back - a frequent posture for me, an indication of contentment, all is good in my world - and looked back to see my precious son, following me along, constant chatter, hands clasped behind his back. Occassionally, the mind-less chatter that most certainly comes from my gene pool would stop to say "Momma, look what I found" and we would both star in amazement at that stick.
He worked hard getting all the sticks off the beach and into the water, but Daisy, the ever faithful black lab retrieved every single one of them and dropped them at my feet.
About 45 minutes go by, Jackson's moving sticks, Daisy's fetching sticks, Stella's just jumping around like an idiot and Tony starts floating by on the water. No motor, just floating with the breeze. Daisy starts racing up and down the beach barking and whining, Stella follows, does the same - she doesn't know why and Jackson starts hollering "Daddy, Im over here on this beach. Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad." (My father is grinning right now as that was my mantra as a child "Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad"). Then giant splash - Daisy has jumped in and is swimming to the boat - I call her back 5 more times all while convincing Jackson that Dad is not going to leave us. "But Momma, I'm on this beach. Dad's going to the other beach and I'm on this beach" turns and shouts for the 7 hundreth time, "Dad over here, I'm on this beach!"
And so now you know why we dont often get to go on the fishing trips. We brought the circus home with us.
Ever forward !
