PAGOSA SPRINGS 2013

As usual, it has taken me forever to get vacation stuff together, but better late than never.  We spent Spring Break in Pagosa Springs with the Kienle family and had a blast.  Jackson got to ski with Ricky and Kenny, who he thinks is the BOMB!

What made the trip so fun?  For the first time, Jackson skied the whole mountain with Mom and Dad.  Which means, we weren't stuck on the green slopes and nobody had to ski alone.

Jackson did an awesome job.  On the first day, we got to the mountain I realized I had left his harness at the cabin.  The only reason I used it was to slow him down, but quickly realized what a crutch it had become for Mom.

The first run of the day (Monday), Jackson and I get in the line for the lift for the Bunny Hill.  It was a long line that took forever because Ski School got precedent and went straight to the front.  Jackson and I finally got to the top and the first run was miserable.  He wouldn't let go of me and I wouldn't let go of him and it was a patience-devouring mess.  By the time we got to Tony, "here is your kid, good luck!"  We rode up a different lift and Jackson and I grumbled the whole way.  We get to the top and Dad (Tony) announces loudly, "You stop touching him and you stop touching her, you two get away from each other!"  Jackson pointed his skis downhill, did a perfect snow plow and off he went.  It was a bitter sweet moment for me realizing that by holding on, I was holding him back.  After that, that kid took off on every trail on that mountain and did an awesome job.  Truly a relief for mom knowing that even if he took a wrong turn, there wasn't a trail he could not get down.  Went down several black diamonds with his dad, "it's easy mom, just follow the path!" in reference to the moguls.

Monday and Tuesday, the Spring Break crowds were busy.  Long lines at all of the lifts.  But the rest of the week was great.  Snow was good, weather was phenomenal - even allowing us to ski in shirts one day.

Spending the trip with the Kienle's was fun too.  Ricky and Kenny are snowboarders and Jackson kept up with them on every run.  Actually skied faster than I really liked to.  The Graham's got to the mountain in the morning and skied all day, while the Kienle's took half days.  So they got their family time and we got ours and then shared meals in the evenings.  It was truly a great trip and one I would love to do again.
