BADGERS SOCCER
Last night we wrapped up the Badger's soccer season with the team party. This season was extraordinary thanks to our coaches. They were AWESOME! They knew the game and taught the kids SO MUCH! We learned positions, offense and defense strategies and my sweet sweet boy stepped into the goal and kicked ASS at goalie (sorry for cussing, there's really no other way to describe it).
They did not have a winning season, but the kids all had fun, played hard and learned ALOT. Every member except one is returning and Payton has decided to try her hand at dance. We wish her the best.
All of the kids are great, the parents are great - we just had a really fun season.
Last Sunday we played in a tournament with teams from other leagues and to put it mildly, it was not our best day. We didn't score one goal in all three games. Jackson blocked some awesome shots on goal, but some got by him (as is the game). After about 4 scores from the other team, Jackson fell to his knees in tears. All of the other amazing shots he blocked were now forgotten.
It was quarter time and I went over and gave him a hug and told him he was doing fantastic. He wailed, "we are losing and it's my fault". To which I replied, "no its not! They have to get through every other team member before they can even take a shot on goal - this is not on you buddy." Cheered him up some, but coach pulled him out of the goal and let him play defense. (He's better in the goal, but he takes it so personal. But when I played that position, I did too).
Coach Jeremy told me last night that the coach of the hardest team we played commented on Jackson's goal keeping and how good he was. My heart swelled with pride.
Love you Stonewall Jackson!
