Mother's day - Owls, Bugs & Dirt

Several weeks ago, Jackson and I went to my Mom's house and visited a neighbor who rehabs wild birds. These two baby barn owls she received that day and they are raised my a surrogate mom.
She also raises bats and takes them to schools for educational purposes. I don't like this guy's teeth.

For Mother's day, we took Jackson camping on our land in Oklahoma. We had a great time. None of us wanted to come home.
My new tent.
View from the neighboring properties bluff. If I took out a few trees, i would have the same view.

JB and his dogs (who at one point, ran off after Tony in the Mule who didn't know they were chasing him. They followed him all the way back, never caught him and were two very hot and thirsty dogs)

Jackson and I found a tarantula.
JB: Mom, why is it hairy
Me: Just is, that's the way God made it.
JB: I'm gonna poke it.
Me: No you're not! We don't poke spiders just because
JB: Where' his mommy?
Me: I don't know, but if you poke it, she may come out and be really mad.

Really was a neat bug. Interesting to watch it carefully touch things around it with it's feet.

A few weeks ago, our friends Chris and Diane had a crawfish boil. They are neighbors at the River and are having to move to CO. Not selling the river place, so we will see them again, but hate to see them go.

One of Chris's friends had this old truck which reminded me of one my dad used to have. Dad - this one's for you.

Chris & Diane's little girl Sydney and Jackson checking each other out. J told me Sydney could not come to live with us.
