BIG UGLY STORM
For the third time in my life, I had to take shelter from a Tornado on May the 24th. This one was the closest, although we sustained no damage.
Before it was due to hit our area, you could hear the tornado to the west - sounded like a HUGE jet, but I knew all planes were grounded.
The sky was a translucent weird green color and you could visibly see both layers of clouds, each moving in different directions.
I gathered up our "take shelter stuff": dog leashes, shoes for everyone, wallet with ID, cell phone. As the storm got closer, I stuck Jackson and the dogs in the bathroom with the Ipad (electronic babysitters come in handy occasionally) and Tony and I continued to watch the storm and the news. When the news caster said, "if you are looking for the funnel before you take shelter, it will be too late, TAKE SHELTER NOW!", I joined the dogs and Jackson in the bathroom. Tony followed suit shortly after (something he has never done). We sat in the bathroom and listened to the wind howl and hail pummel the house. It was scary and I am typically not scared by storms.
It passed before too long and Tony and I emerged to see what was happening now. The wind had stopped blowing - very calm. These are the pictures I took during that time. They do not do justice to the clouds. They were spooky.
Another storm blew through, more hail, but still no damage. Everyone finally emerged from the bathroom, which was good, the dogs don't like movies, or apples we found out, and everyone went to bed.
Another night in Texas weather.
