EASTER 2011

I have been terrible about uploading and updating Jackson's blog, but am trying to get caught up.

For Easter this year, we opted to stay at home and have a quiet weekend at home. Ok, well, maybe not quiet. We did so many fun and interesting things.

That Friday night, Daddy took us out for Sushi and yes, Jackson ate Sushi. The child will not eat a grilled cheese sandwich, but loved sashimi. Who knew?

Saturday, we went to the horse races out at Grand Prairie. I came out about even, Tony was down about $20.00, but it was dollar day and we had a fun time. Dollar Day, however, does mean that every toothless, weirdo showed up, so we had as much fun watching all the people (or what appeared to be people) as we did the horses. After the races, we went to Trader's Village- a giant flea market and only came home with one giant, metal sunflower to adorn the River House porch.

Sunday we went to Church. We opted for the later service instead of the sunrise, lake-side service so Jackson could hunt Easter eggs. The Easter Bunny to hid them in the house again because of the weather (and the dogs), so he spent all of about 5 minutes looking for them, found one with Jelly Beans and that was it. Didn't want to look anymore.

When we got to church, Jackson was dropped off in the Kid Zone and Tony and I were walking to the main building and found out the Main Building had no electricity, so lakeside service it was. We do to a huge church, Fellowship in Grapevine, http://www.fellowshipchurch.com, so the fact that they had to accommodate close to 1,500 people outside, was something they were not prepared for, but were diligently finding and moving chairs outside. Tony did not wear his sunglasses, so he had to spend most of the service with one eye closed. However, it was a nice service under the circumstances.

After church, we went to LaMadeline for lunch, a place Tony had never been. He was worried he was going to get a teeny finger sandwich for lunch, but was pleased when it arrived.

After Church, we hid Easter eggs for the babies next door and had a nice afternoon just doing nothing really.

Jackson has been chattering a lot about Jesus lately. He thinks that before he was born, he lived with Jesus and that Jesus gave him to Me and his dad, which is true for those of us who are believers. He tells lots of stories about his time with Jesus and how Jesus lives in his heart and is always with him. He got mad at me once and loudly exclaimed he was going back to Jesus.

I am not sure if he realizes the true meaning of Easter yet. Still a bit young to understand the entire story, but we are making efforts to make sure at some point he understands it's truly not about rabbits and chocolate, but about our eternal salvation and forgiveness of our sins.
